Seeing Pontesi's generally a blank slate, what would be everyone's thoughts on establishing a backstory for the country, and some constitutional amendments such as a new flag etc, so we can effectively "start again"?

MessageMe to we should agree a story and someone with knowledge of wiki (hint: brexiteer2) shoud write it. I do like the idea of the Spap with the selco-potensian miniority and maybe have it a specific region. Because i woud like to rp gouvernors in the game, if you all agree ofcourse. With the elections you can see who did best in the region and the best party of that region would hold a senator or gouvernor. Afterbthat we could decide how to rp the power of gouvernors.

MessageA Selucian minority is workable. I don't see the need of a certain religion however, given the generally diverse populace here. Also I think we should have Luthorian as the official language here, mostly as it's easier due to our names all being English, and will just make things run smoother in general. Perhaps we could RP Luthori invaded centuries ago. Also the Selucian minority could be a result of yet another ancient invasion, perhaps similar to the Roman empire. I seem to recall on the wiki I saw we were a part of an empire at one point.

Governors are workable, we have/had them in Dorvik, but we seem to have given up eventually xD

As for constitutional change I think that'd be a good idea, the goal could be to sort that out before the next election.

MessageHey guys, sorry if I'm intruding, but I have a couple of things I'd like to point out as a long-term PT player, even though I've never played in Pontesi.

First off, I think making Pontesi largely Indian is a wonderful idea, considering Indian culture is largely unrepresented in the game; there have been attempts to establish it in other nations, but none of them succeeded, and Pontesi might be a very suitable place to introduce it long-term. The nation is close to Malivia, which was once PT's India but is now Afro-Caribbean with an Indo-Caribbean minority, and neighbors Barmenia to the South, which, while culturally open as well, is generally based on Persianate Turkic/Central Asian culture (a major historical influence on the Subcontinent).

If you are curious about the overall historical background of the continent of Majatra, which might also give you some idea on how to harmonize Pontesi's history with that of neighboring nations, you can check this wiki page: http://particracy.wikia.com/wiki/History_of_Majatra

Also, although Pontesi is currently culturally open, meaning among other things that any culture is allowed, it would be a good idea to check the previous Cultural Protocols of this nation: http://classic.particracy.net/viewbill.php?billid=462601 None of that is binding, but it might give you an idea of what previous players had in mind when playing in this nation. It might also be useful to check out this forum discussion, which ultimately helped produce the previous Cultural Protocols of Pontesi before the nation was declared Culturally Open: http://forum.particracy.net/viewtopic.php?f=5&t=6469

Now, all of this might not fit in very well with an Indian culture at first glance, but there are ways of reinterpreting Pontesi to make everything fit in together. As Brexiteer noted, Pontesi was once part of an Empire - specifically it was part of the Cildanian Hegemony (http://particracy.wikia.com/wiki/Cildanian_Hegemony), largely based on the Carthaginian Empire but playing the role of the Roman Republic/Early Roman Empire in Majatran history. You could model Cildanian rule in Pontesi on the Indo-Greeks (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Indo-Greek_Kingdom), which had a combo of classical Mediterranean and Indian cultures, and preserve the Seluco-Ponteans that way. Modern-day Seluco-Ponteans could be modeled on Luso-Indians if you are so inclined. You could also introduce small numbers of Saint Thomas Christians (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Saint_Thomas_Christians) to create a link with the Kathurans (based on Assyrians) from Barmenia, as well as some Cochin Jews (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cochin_Jews) to link with Jewish-themed Beiteynu.

And of course you could, if you were so inclined, maintain a small Jelbic minority. Pontesi used to be part of the so-called Jelbosphere, a group of nations roughly based on Central Asian steppe cultures, speaking Jelbic, a conlang created specifically for Particracy by an old player, IdioC. Since in RL the Subcontient has a very large Islamic population with some historical links to Central Asia it might be cool to retain a number of Jelbic-speaking Ahmadis, whom you could call Pntek and model on Islamic Desi peoples. If you want assistance with the Jelbic language I would be most happy to help. Although, considering the relative inaccessibility of the language, I wouldn't recommend a Jelbic population higher than 5-10%.

And again, sorry if I'm speaking out of turn or intruding here. I love the work all of you have put into Pontesi and I'm eager to see where you guys will be taking this nation :)

Random fact: Particracy allows you to establish an unelected head of state like a monarch or a president-for-life, but doing this is a bit of a process. First elect a candidate with the name "." to the Head of State position. Then change your law on the "Structure of the executive branch" to "The head of state is hereditary and symbolic; the head of government chairs the cabinet" and change the "formal title of the head of state" to how you want the new head of state's title and name to appear (eg. King Percy XVI).

Random quote: "The spread of evil is the symptom of a vacuum. Whenever evil wins, it is only by default: by the moral failure of those who evade the fact that there can be no compromise on basic principles." - Ayn Rand
