Bill: Devolution of Power
Details
Submitted by[?]: Revolutionary Socialist Council
Status[?]: defeated
Votes: This is an ordinary bill. It requires more yes votes than no votes. This bill will not pass any sooner than the deadline.
Voting deadline: December 2183
Description[?]:
We feel that a centralised economy is absolutely vital, as the economy effects the whole nation. Social problems, like smoking, drugs, etc should be devolved to local governments. This will enhance our democracy greatly as decisions on these issues are taken on the lowest level. Also, if you look at the election results, different regions of the country have very different opinions. |

Message | The UPU will support a devolution programme. It may be that things like immigration policy are best left to the national government however, so we'd prefer to consider each form of devolution individually. Undecided on this package deal for now. Question for the bill sponsor: why is it OK to devolve power over illegal aliens and hard drugs, but not over food as we proposed recently? |
Date | 17:00:45, February 09, 2006 CET | From | Revolutionary Socialist Council | To | Debating the Devolution of Power |
Message | No, food is a different issue. If food is made in one Muhafazah to be sold in another or nationwide it has to have several different standards to conform to. Plus, we see that as a basic right that protects the people. |
