MessageMr Speaker,

This is a callous, nasty proposal brought forward by our coalition partners. Yes life expectancy is longer in the modern era, however surely we should allow the people to enjoy their lives for longer instead, especially with youth unemployment and a general lack of jobs! In addition to this there are still many people who pass away within or before this threshold, and is unfair to the less advantaged. We highly oppose this bill and are glad to see the rest of the Senate have joined us in opposing this bill!
