Bill: Funding the Church Act of 4171

Details

Status[?]: defeated

Votes: This is an ordinary bill. It requires more yes votes than no votes. This bill will not pass any sooner than the deadline.

Voting deadline: October 4171

Description[?]:

Mr. Speaker,

The Most Reverend Francis Benham, the Archbishop of Oalapo, who is the head of the Church of Luthori, has requested this body consider appropriating funds for the Church. As the Church expands in Malivia, it is in need of money to set up seminaries and temporarily pay the salaries of clergy who are teaching in the country. The amount of money going towards the Church would make up a fraction of a percent of our annual budget.

I yield.

Rt Hon. Christopher Holt MD
Prime Minister
United Luthori-Geharon

MessageMr. Speaker,

I would like to know the specifics, how much money does the Prime Minister intend on funneling to the Church of Luthori. For i see it as if we are funneling state revenue into the church, at the rate and amount I am assuming, it is best we become a Theocracy and integrate the schematics of the church into the daily administration of the country. Now, when i was Finance Minister, I recognized that the Church of Luthori has a bank account, worth nearly 1 Billion Luthorian pounds. This money was derived from worshippers in the parishes, scattered across the country and other forms. I will break this down even more, 250 million pounds comes from the total worth of the assets currently being managed by the Board of Governor of the Church of Luthori. 750 million pounds comes worshippers in the parishes, scattered across the country.

It is also our belief that if the Prime Minister is willing to support the Church of Luthori, why can't funds be funneled into other religions such as the Traditionalist Lutheran Church, the Hobrazian Orthodox Church or the Yeudish Church. This tells me of a specific bias towards the Luthorian Church.

Mr. Speaker, My scrutiny of this request comes as a rational decision, as we recognize our economic hardship. I am a Hosian, however, I am rational and thus until a justifable reason for this legislation (other than funnelling state funds into a church which already has a massive bank account) is presented we will be abstaining.
