Message | The republican party firstly wants to congratulate the peoples party with their won majority in parliament, be it swift and unexpected. However, the first proposal by the peoples party cannot count on republican support. We firmly believe this bill is a hotchpotch of several ideas on several fields. There is no logic behind the proposals and it looks like there has not been any thought behind it. A bill like this cannot be allowed to pass if only for the moral precedent it makes. That being said, let us go into the details of the bill. We agree with articles 1, 2, 3 and 4. The retirement age should be increased to be able to afford our welfare state. The age of 65 might even not be far enough but we are willing to settle for 65 for now. Religion should have no place in determining adulthood therefore article 2 has our full support. To increase political freedom, we would endorse a situation where each party would be able to propose a coalition, the head of state should remain aside in political questions like these, article 3 would be something we would vote for. Our statement on nobility is plain and simple, no titles should be granted and all powers in effect because of the nobility ranks should be removed, we would support article 4. Articles 5,6 and 7 are firmly rejected by the Republican Party. We believe a year of military services increases moral standards and improves decency and civility in our citizens. Alongside the compulsory military services we should still have an active, standing military that can defend our country. The military service can never be a replacement of the latter. The matter of the shops is an interesting one but not one that should be fought out in parliament. This is by example a matter that should be left to local government. Last but not least, abortions should be availble during the first and second trimester, we would like to leave the situation as is. We look forward to hearing the peoples party's opinion on the matters at hand. We will proceed, re-propose and extend our measures in terms of economic reform to further increase economic growth.
