I am today announcing an agreement between the Republican and Patriotic party to serve in a coalition government for the next 4 years. I have had calls requesting the inclusion of other parties, namely the BDGP and others, however, I believe that for a strong democratic legislative system, you need a strong opposition. And in the strong opposition you need strong parties. We are going to make mistakes, and we have to be held accountable, I believe that the traditionally centre-right cabinet working in government, with the traditionally left parties working in opposition means that our government will be held to account. Should issues arise where I feel that particular ministries require the handling of other parties, then the decision will be taken at the time. Thank you." |
