Description[?]:
After almost 20 years in charge of the BDGP, Elyse Wood has officially resigned after the second round result of the Chairperson Election were announced. Unexpectedly, and against the predictions of the polls, Wood's faction (the centrist Newman Society) managed to retain the top spot - but it wasn't without a challenge. The Infrastructure and Transport Secretary and new leader of the party, Chairwoman Valentine Perkins, lost the second round to Steven Myrad of the Independent League. However, she managed to sway the necessary members, and got elected by a 2 point margin. The GDB results only confirmed the tightness of the race, with the ruling faction failing to retain control of the party governing board. BDGP Chairperson Election Result: First Round Chantelle Harbour - Communist Front - 2% (ELIMINATED) Bryon Lyon - Socialist Alliance - 30% (ELIMINATED) Steven Myrad - Independent League - 36% Valentine Perkins - Newman Society - 32% Second Round Steven Myrad - Independent League - 49% Valentine Perkins - Newman Society - 51% (WINNER) Green Democratic Board (GDB) Election Result Communist Front - 1 Seats Independent League - 9 Seats Newman Society - 8 Seats Socialist Alliance - 7 Seat |
