Bill: Equality and Civil Rights Act 4183

Details

Submitted by[?]: Social Justice Coalition

Status[?]: defeated

Votes: This bill proposes the withdrawal from a treaty. It will require half of the legislature to vote in favor[?]. This bill will not pass any sooner than the deadline.

Voting deadline: January 4184

Description[?]:

The proposals in this bill aim to introduce equality across race, gender, age and culture. There has been a punitive turn of late towards those who are not of a certain race or religion, or who do not conform to what the government consider proper. There is no room for this in a free and democratic society and the limiting of these rights and liberties does nothing for the prosperity of the nation, stifling chances and driving those who could bring much to our economy away.

We know this bill will be heavily protested by the parties in power as it does not conform to their ideas of government control over freedom of expression. But instead, see this bill as a force to be known. There are progressive parties that exist in Daekyojeguk and the citizens of our great nation will come to realise the harm nationalism and extreme right thinking will cause to us. It is time for us to take a stand.

Most of the legislative change that can be brought about with regards to freedom of race and religion is stifled by the treaty "constitution of the Great Kyo Empire" - This harmful and stifling treaty threatens to limit the great work of this government. It is nothing more than majority party control. It does not allow for the will of the people and is totally undemocratic.

The legislative change proposed aside from the treaty withdrawal are the best and most progressive that can be achieved while bound by the harmful treaty put before us. Make no mistake - We must withdraw this treaty which harms the ability of this government to make changes according to the will of the people, as opposed to the desire of the parties in power.

MessageYes. In our opening comments I made it clear that I doubt very much this will come to fruition. However, it is important still it is on the record. Just because of limits of power does not mean we should not have a voice through the legislature.

MessageIndeed, make your gestures. It only makes clearer your fanatical hatred of what the people wanted and voted for. Give it up, your precious foreigners are gone now. You have to start representing the people who live here. Crazy thought I know.

Random fact: Whilst the use of non-English languages can be appropriate for nation names, party names, constitutional titles and other variables, English is the official language of communication in the game. All descriptive texts and public communications should be in English or at least appear alongside a full English translation.

Random quote: "In Germany they first came for the Communists and I didn't speak up because I wasn't a Communist. Then they came for the Jews, and I didn't speak up because I wasn't a Jew. Then they came for the trade unionists and I didn't speak up because I wasn't a trade unionist. Then they came for the Catholics, and I didn't speak up because I was a Protestant. Then they came for me--and by that time no one was left to speak up." - Pastor Martin Niemoller
