Bill: Preventing Union-Based Intimidation Act
Details
Submitted by[?]: Republican Party
Status[?]: defeated
Votes: This is an ordinary bill. It requires more yes votes than no votes. This bill will not pass any sooner than the deadline.
Voting deadline: February 4197
Description[?]:
Closed shops and union shops are exclusive places of employment that force every employee to be part of the union under the threat of losing their job - or not gaining employment at all. Why should local governments have the power to make this determination? This is why: if a certain industry is the primary livelihood of a state - for example, steel - a union can dominate that industry by opening a large number of closed, union and agency shops, requiring every single worker to contribute to or be part of the union even if it's against their will. They don't have any other viable option regarding a place of employment, as the union will grow and quickly become formidable competition against non-union shops. It runs the risk of creating a dangerous monopoly. |
Proposals
Article 1
Proposal[?] to change Closed shops are places of employment where only members of a specific union are allowed to work; union shops can hire non-members, but these have to become members after a certain time; agency shops can hire non-members, who have to pay a fee to cover the unions costs. All three are erected by union agreements. (Only valid if unions are legal)
