Bill: Welfare Reform Act
Details
Submitted by[?]: Democracy Party
Status[?]: passed
Votes: This is an ordinary bill. It requires more yes votes than no votes. This bill will not pass any sooner than the deadline.
Voting deadline: September 4198
Description[?]:
This bill would increase the amount of money given to people who are not able to be supported by family members to a reasonable level. This would allow jobless individuals the resources to improve themselves through education and by purchasing physical capital such as computers, which would in turn help them to get stronger, longer lasting jobs. This bill would also make social security mandatory. There are two problems with a voluntary pension system that this would fix: 1. A voluntary pension would mean that the tax for social security is also voluntary. Anyone can see the problems with a voluntary tax. 2. Poorer people might feel pressured to opt out of the social security system because they feel they don't have the resources to contribute to it. This creates pressure on other low-income people to opt out in order to compete, and this would allow businesses to pay them less as they would no longer have that slice of their budget going towards retirement (meaning fewer total expenses, meaning they can be paid less). This would ensure that everyone is guaranteed a safe retirement, regardless of their economic condition. |
