Message | Allowing easier access to physician assisted suicide could open the floodgate to non-critical patient suicides and other abuses, as well as the fact that Government and insurance companies may may put undue pressure on doctors to avoid heroic measures or recommend the PAS procedure. |

Message | Having a court order keeps terminally ill patients in pain longer and logs the courts. The PPH believes that a citizens healthcare should be between that citizen and their physician and not the government. These are delicate issues to be decided by the patient and not the courts. We wish to allow terminally ill patients to make decisions on how and when their life ends. We do not believe that this is a decision that the courts should make. |

Message | In a society as obsessed with the costs of health care and the principle of utility, the dangers of the slippery slope... are far from fantasy... Assisted suicide is a half-way house, a stop on the way to other forms of direct euthanasia, for example, for incompetent patients by advance directive or suicide in the elderly. The medical community has to have restrictions on what it may do to people with disabilities - we've already seen what some members of that community are willing to do when no restrictions are in place. |

Message | The PPH sees no evidence that the medical community is "itching" to kill their patients. In fact 38 nations in Terra have passed similar laws to allow patients to decide their own fate. This law does not legalize suicide and nor does it allow incompetent patients to make decisions on their own. Just in other cases legal guardians would make medical decision for those who are incompetent. Also their are several laws on the books that regultes our helthcare system. This law simply allows patients and medical professionals to make medical decisions and not unqualified judges who do not have medical knowledge. |
