MessageOne, incest leading to inbreeding will cause higher genetic disorder prevalence, which will be a burden for the government (welfare etc.).
Two, why must we 'normalize this'? Can we not call conserve norms and values? What good will come from allowing people to perform sexual acts and marry their relatives. This will just lead to a less biologically fit society, and destruction of culture and values.

MessageIf you find it culturally inappropriate, then don't do it yourself, but banning it from the rest just because it does not fit your 'norms and values' is not right at all. Will it be okay if the government banned broccoli just because the Congress didn't like them?

And the genetic disorder thing, it only starts to be serious after many generations of incest. Smoking while being pregnant is far more dangerous for the offspring, and yet it is not forbidden, it just falls on the responsibility of the mother.

Sorry. You can't stem the tide. You can't fight mutually consenting love.

MessageWe would definitely advocate to make mothers liable to any damage caused to their child because of drug or alcohol consumption. The issue is not that congress 'doesn't like broccoli', its that there are societal values, norms and standards that active members of communities adhere to. Incest, as your bill title describes, is not normal. Normalizing it would not reap any benefits.

And the genetic disorder thing, genetic disabilities can even occur in the first instance of inbreeding. If the family members are very close, for example siblings, there can be a 25 to 50 percent chance of a genetic disorder occurring.

If there is no harm done to either consenting adult in the incestuous relationship, the FSP, though finding it socially unacceptable, has no legal issue with the scenario. The real problem is that the child spawned from the incestuous breeding does not have a voice in the matter and is not able to choose for him/herself. Instead, that child could be doomed to a painful life of disability.

The Free State Party does not believe that incestuous sexual acts and marriage should be illegal and prosecuted, but the complete legalization thereof is simply ridiculous. It is unhealthy and non-human to commit incestous acts. I would hope that other members of the legislature would agree with me.

MessageThe Farmers Commune agrees with the Free State Party on a number of issues including this one on principle...
But we cannot stand against the tide of progress, even if it means allowing the freedom to choose who you procreate with.
We understand the dangers of inbreeding but we believe that the freedom allowed through our agenda should give people the freedom to choose who they live and create their lives with. Genetic diversity shall live on through the vast majority of people.

MessageTide of progress? Inbreeding is not progression, it is regression! Inbreeding and incest was acceptable in the past, where it should stay. We should not try to revive ancient, outdated practices like incest.

MessageOur Party does not believe the government should have a place in the bedroom. While we do not support the recognition of incestuous marriages, this reform is an improvement over the current state of affairs. No one should be punished for incestuous acts - but at the same time we should not recognize or afford equal rights to incestuous marriages.

The right to privacy in your own home outweighs the negatives that the FSP present. What happens in the bedroom is no business of the state.
