Message | M. Modérateur, Esteemed Members of l'Assemblée Nationale, The culture of Lourennais is one that we all can be proud of. A blend of Canrillaişe and Orinco makes our nation a truly unique and wonderful full of heritage and historic sights. We should also pride ourselves on the religious and political freedom that is now commonplace within Lourenne. However, there is one aspect to Lourennian society that is still to much under the grasp of the government - culture. This bill, with your Honourable Members' support will seek to change that. The PCL is looking to remove the government's ability to dictate culture by assigning money to various artistic institutions and museums at the expense of others. What the PCL proposes is an opportunity for private organisations, who will be more knowledgeable in these matters than this house, to be given the funding by government to further the awareness and enrichment of culture in Lourenne. We thank the house for considering our proposal, and would hope that we would have the Honourable Assembly Members' support for this bill. The PCL hope all parties view the wonderful culture as important, and would ask for their support for the further enhancement of our society. M. Quetzalcoatl Tzamá Third Officer of the PCL, and PCL Candidate for Minister of Internal Affairs Mme. Marthe Cahun PCL Candidate for Minister of Education and Culture |

Message | M. Modérateur, M. Tzamá, Mme. Cahun, Hon. Members of l'Assemblée Nationale, I do not believe this bill will accomplish any of the goals you are trying to achieve. Article 1 would indeed give the state more power over culture by allowing it to favor some artists and cultural institutions over others, on a "case-by-case" (nothing more than a euphemism for discretionary and arbitrary) basis. It, indeed, restricts cultural freedom in Lourenne. Article 2 and 3 would subsidize private organizations whose goal is not to maintain the public interest in their protection of cultural and historical heritage, but to turn a profit; if the protection of cultural and historical heritage does not turn a profit, who will stop them? It replaces the universal protection of the state with the fickle and arbitrary protection of the market and formalizes domination, not by public institutions as Article 1 does, but by private institutions. |

Message | M./Mme. Modérateur, Honoured members of l'Assemblée Nationale, I do agree with you that we have a truly unique and wonderful culture. But the main goal of the government with investing in cultural bodies isn't to dictate our culture, but to develop it so it can become bigger around the country and hopefully spread itself to other countries. So we'll vote against, as we think it is a good to invest in our beautiful culture. we thank all members of l'Assemblée Nationale for their time and attention, Marie-Louise Payet Minister of Education and Culture |
