Bill: Adoption Regulation Act (2184)
Details
Submitted by[?]: Deltarian Nationalist Party
Status[?]: passed
Votes: This is an ordinary bill. It requires more yes votes than no votes. This bill will not pass any sooner than the deadline.
Voting deadline: May 2186
Description[?]:
It is the governments duty to protect those who cannot protect themselves and nowhere should this be more evident than in adoption. Everything that can possibly be done to prevent these vulnerable citizens from abuse should be done. This program will help filter out any applicants who have a criminal record or mental disabilities from taking charge of a child. The applicants will then be viewed with the children in a controled enviroment and if social workers agree that they seem to be fit parents then they should be allowed to adopt the child. There will always be some abuses but it is important for the government to do the upmost to try and prevent them. |
Proposals
Article 1
Proposal[?] to change The government's policy concerning adoption.
Old value:: Adoption is regulated by the government. Applicants can adopt after a routine check-up.
Current: Regulation is used to screen out only those with a previous history of child abuse.
Proposed: Adoption is strictly regulated by the government. Only by passing several tests and by following an intensive program applicants can adopt children.

Message | I only disagree with the criminal record bit. If it can be shown that the person has been rehabilitated then I there is no reason to not allow him or her to adopt. |

Message | But it is impossible to prove if someone is completely rehabilitated and it would be a big gamble letting someone who was formerly convicted of child abuse, domestic violence or even assault be in the charge of a child. |
