Bill: Assassination of Former President Sylvester Palmer

Details

Status[?]: passed

Voting deadline: March 4203

Description[?]:

“This is a day of sadness and a day of misery. Global economic turmoil looms on our horizon, and we are struck with a tragedy at home. This is a day that will forever be a stain on the history of Beluzia. It is a day of shame and silence.

I must say that I am not pleased to announce that shortly after the election of Ramon Quintana of the Liberal Party to the presidency, and a very strong congratulations to him, Sylvester Palmer, previous president of Beluzia, has been assassinated while travelling back to his residence in Union Bay, Iliathar.

The exact circumstances of the accident are unknown. Palmer’s body was discovered on the outskirts of Union Bay, crushed between his own vehicle and a foreign vehicle of unknown make and model. A single bullet wound was present on his right shoulder.

We believe that the assassin is likely severely injured and currently may be in hiding within a half mile radius of the accident. An investigation has been launched regarding the potential identity of the assassin and their current location, and will continue throughout the next few weeks.

We regret the loss of such an influential man in history. He will be buried alongside his parents’ graves in his home city.

I, personally, will be stepping up to fulfill the role of presidential candidate of the Republican Party. I shall forever be wracked with the pain of losing Sylvester Palmer - a clever, intelligent, sprightly man, a man who was my best friend, a man whom I loved.”

- Kenneth Rhodes, Chairman of the Republican Party

Message'President Palmer was a great friend of mine and although we did not meet eye to eye on social issues, he was a capable politician that was willing to compromise to put people before party, by having his party vote for legislation, which although differed from his ideology, but benefited Beluzia in general. If he was still with us, he would have been the best person to initiate reconciliation talks between the NPP and their arch rivals to find common ground between both parties and to put aside partisanship. We in the BRRP are saddened by his death and we wish his family peace in these hard times.'

Message"It breaks my heart to hear about the death of Former President Palmer. We worked very closely during his presidency and formed an extremely close friendship. He always looked out for me and everyone in the administration. Behind the cold witty exterior, was a kind a generous man. It was an honor to serve as his Vice President and help get historic legislation passed. I send my deepest condolences to all of Palmer's family. If there is anything you need, please reach out to me. This Presidential Palace, is open to everyone. Rest in piece my friend, I will deeply miss you."

Random fact: Did you know you can change the official name of your nation? All you need to do is draw up a new name that is in accordance with the Nation Renaming Guide, pass a bill proposing the name change with a two-thirds majority and then post a request to Moderation on the "Renaming Requests" thread. You can change city and region names in this way too.

Random quote: "Thousands of Zardic soldiers were sacrificed so that the Zardic government could gain control of a few buildings and Theodoro could pretend to be Augustus the Great. This is the kind of jingoistic ideology Zardugal would bring to the Security Council. They will throw countless lives away in pursuit of former glory." - Prince Akhaias, former Coburan royal
