| Lorenzo Verhoeven, President of the Republic: "Citizens of the Republic, I present myself before you for the last time as President of the Istalian Republic to officially announce my resignation. I finally made this decision to meet a situation that has now become unsustainable and that has spread more and more discontent among the population, a dissatisfaction that as Head of State I could not ignore any more. I also announce the resignation of the current Government, resigned upon my explicit request, having noted the serious developments of the investigations carried out by the Romula's Prosecutor Office and which seriously affected most of the parties of the current majority. This is my decision to further demonstrate my faith in Democracy and my respect for the popular will which in recent months has clearly demonstrated how it is not more sustainable for the current executive to continue its work and stay at the top of the State . Regarding the conduct of many members of the parliamentary majority, I have full confidence in the judiciary and I'm waiting for the conclusions of the Judiciary, but in any case I can only dissociate myself from this illegal behavior and condemn with great sorrow the actions of which have been accused of many of my own collaborators. In any case, with regard to my role as Head of State in these long years, I would like to point out that all that I did was for the good of the country and its citizens during the darkest and most difficult period of the last hundred and fifty years of our Republic. Beyond the purely political judgments, the results, as I have always said, I firmly believe they are widely visible to everyone: the terrorist threat has been eradicated at home as well as abroad, our citizens have found again the freedom to live safely and their liberties, which with great sense of duty they accepted were partially limited to providing the best tools to the defenders of the homeland to do their best job, have been reconfirmed and finally I honestly think that Istalia has managed exemplary and with great ethical sense also the wantunian crisis, bringing order, security and justice to a land that was martyred by anarchy and also contributing to the whole of the kalopian nation to finally start towards a new era of peace and security free from one of the practices most adverse by humanity and first by our country, slavery. However, time has come to change, it is time for the past to leave the place for the future and that is why I take this opportunity to announce not only my resignation as President of the Republic but also my official withdrawal from politics. Despite the criticisms of my person and my work, I also want to emphasize that I have always tried to play this role with the utmost sense of duty and with my mind always turned to our citizens and our great Nation. It was an honor to cover this important institutional role and I want to thank all those who have supported me in these years and have trusted in me and in my work and sincerely I wish the best for the future of the Nation. Long live to the Republic! Long live to Democracy! Long live to the Istalia!" (OOC: Until the next election, we should consider the President of the Chamber of Deputies as the Head of the State and a new technical Government (in RP because there is not time to the regular procedure) at the place of the current one, so, I ask to the Government parties to resign their ministers. This RP Government have to be consider at the power just until the next elections and the formation of a new Government. Thank you) |
