MessageMr Speaker,

We would like to invite all parties to vote for this to help our economy. And also to read the comments of the President: http://forum.particracy.net/viewtopic.php?f=17&t=353&p=114016#p114016.

MessageSpeaker,

How exactly does the PP want to stimulate the economy by increasing funding for E&C and I&T?

MessageMr Speaker,

Are you seriously asking that question? Businesses need skilled workers (education) and cheap prices of transporting goods (infrastructure). I didn't realise it was so hard.

MessageMr Speaker,

It seems to me that the so-called Pragmatic Party are in absolute denial about the circumstances our nation are currently in. In the face of a recession and economic difficulties, what does the Pragmatic Party propose? More spending which would put us into a deficit even in regular times. We will vigorously oppose this failed idea for a budget.

In financially difficult times, you must also invest in your country. Why do you think we proposed the income tax bill?

MessageSpeaker,

I wasn't questioning why the PP wants to invest in the first place, but why the Minister chose to invest in Infrastructure and Education.

MessageSpeaker,

We believe that the PP has lost its focus. Our economic situation won't be resolved by throwing money at educational facilities and infrastructural projects. Our population already has a considerably high level of education and our roads are among some of the best in the world.

We should be cutting funds for these ministeries in our eyes, really, as they don't require any immediate interventions and instead we should invest more heavily in the funding for stimulation measures by the Ministry of Finance and the Ministry of Trade and Industry. We can prevent bussinesses from firing employees by safeguarding the sectors of our economy that have been hit the most by the current global crisis, like our many drydocks up in Hauzenwald or our numerous coalmines in Weinsedorf.

MessageMr Speaker,

We aren't throwing money at anything. We must ensure that all children get a strong education. The sky's the limit with our children's futures. And we should not wildly cut if we don't need to. Unless you have a large budget deficit, cutting vital public works like education shouldn't be put forward. The ministry of finance already has a considerable amount of funding, and this bill puts nearly a billion more into trade and industry.

MessageSpeaker,

The Minister of Education and Culture questions my knowledge of economics? What a joke.

The economy isn't purely based on whether you have a deficit or not. There are many factors that we need to keep an eye on.

Increasing taxes will also mean a decrease in consumer goods sales, which will eventually hit companies, which we will need to help in order to keep the economy running. Less sales also means less VAT and less sales also means less corporate taxes. That's why we wanted to invest more in the Ministry of Finance and Trade/Industry. With these investments, we're totally not prepared for these negative effects.

MessageMr Speaker,

I've been minister of justice as well. I'm not a one-show pony. Investments prepare us for economic hardship. Overspending is negative, investment within a surplus are positive.
