Bill: Foreign Disentanglement Act

Details

Submitted by[?]: Whig Party

Status[?]: defeated

Votes: This bill proposes the withdrawal from a treaty. It will require half of the legislature to vote in favor[?]. This bill will not pass any sooner than the deadline.

Voting deadline: November 4204

Description[?]:

The problems facing Terra are a clear call to action to any true patriots of the Commonwealth. Our path is clear, we should move swiftly to disentangle ourselves from risky foreign involvement in our nation. The growing international financial instability is a sign of things to come, we must prepare ourselves for the worst of outcomes and ensure Rutania is self-sufficient in maintaining prosperity and security. We must not allow ourselves to be overrun by economic migrants, and why should we assist economic migrants when the financial security of our own people is threatened, we must look out for Rutanians first.

What have we gained from our foreign entanglements? In the civil war of the 4190's our fellow members of the Artanian Union took sides against one another at the expense of the well being of Rutania, if that is what is to be expected from our closest neighbors what good can we gain from even more distant foreign powers. We in the Whig Party urge the Peoples Assembly to pass this legislation and disentangle the Commonwealth from its risky foreign entanglements.

-Former President and Whig party Chairman Elmer Clark

MessageMr Speaker,

I unfortunately have to announce that the Libertarian Party cannot vote in favor of this proposal. However we do see some merit in retreating from a few treaties, we believe others to be vital to Rutania. We therefore cannot support this. We also don't agree with article 13 and 14.

MessageSuch treaties prevent us from developing our own polices regarding issues that should be matters of decided by a sovereign nation and the people of that nation not be policies written by foreign bureaucrats
