| Message | Why exactly does the VP opposes the right to euthanasia? Should people be forced to stay alive? No. And neither the law nor medical ethics requires that "everything be done" to keep a person alive. Insistence, against the patient's wishes, that death be postponed by every means available is contrary to law and practice. It would also be cruel and inhumane. | Message | We would consider stricter regulation, i.e. as a last resort. However we believe this opens up the possibility of euthanasia out of depressive feelings or an unnecessary circumstance. We believe it is in the patient's best wishes to discourage this unless there is absolutely no other solution as well as a great degree of difficult and disabling symptoms. Volker Wittke VP Leader |
