| A series of events have been planned across the nation to celebrate 1300 years since the signing of the Treaty of Rechtenburg in 2912 which marked Mordusia's independence from the Luthori Empire and the founding of the Republic. In addition to these parades and educational events, Congress is asked to suggest other ways to fittingly commemorate this significant event in history. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ OOC: I have tried to uncover the timeline for this period of monarchy as much of the current information about the period is either scarce or incorrect. For example, there is no evidence that Mordusia became part of the Luthori Empire in 2413 as has previously been recorded. Timeline 2790- The Monarchy is Installed Edward III of the Luthori Empire is enthroned as Emperor of Mordusia after wedding Princess Elizabeth Sayon-Modrus, a noble who claimed descent from Mordus, the first King of Mordusia. This marriage formed the basis for his claim to rule Mordusia and it was enthusiastically supported by The Mordusia Party, a collective of aristocrats who ruled Mordusia as a one party state. After the wedding they moved to vassalise Mordusia to the Luthori Empire. 2857-2859 Mordusia Civil War http://particracy.wikia.com/wiki/Mordusian_Civil_War A war fought between supporters of the Luthori Emperor William IV and supporters of Mordusian usurper Empress Grace I. Grace I ruled Mordusia for 7 years before the Civil War and her defeat at the hands of Luthori forces, their decisive victory coming at the battle of Battle of Euphanea in 2858. 2878- Viceroy of the Imperial Republic Further unrest in Mordusia saw the creation of the 'Viceroy of the Imperial Republic', an elected Mordusian Head of State who replaced Emperor Henry I as direct ruler. This did not stem the tide of unrest however, and the independence movement grew stronger. 2912- Treaty of Rechtenburg Representatives from Mordusia and Emperor George III of Luthori sign the 'Treaty of Rechtenburg' to recognise Mordusia as an independent nation. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Unfortunately the Treaty itself is now lost, however I have attempted to recover the details from the fragmentary evidence which has survived. The Treaty granted Mordusia independence on the following terms, 1. The Head of House Orange-Villayn and House Sayon-Mordus as well as all his legal descendants will be recognized as the Emperors of Mordusia. - This title shall confer no additional privileges that those that a normal Mordusia citizen would have. 2. The Head of House Orange-Villayn and Sayon-Mordus' birthday, as well as that of all of his descendants, shall be a national holiday in Mordusia 3. Luthori and Mordusia shall sign free trade agreements. 4.For the duration of this agreement, both Mordusia and Luthori shall remain members of the Commonwealth Alliance Treaty (CAT). 5.Upon ratification of this treaty by both Mordusia and Luthori, Mordusia shall cede sovereignty of the Dovanian territory known as the Colony of New Mordusia to the Holy Luthorian Empire. 6.Upon ratification of this treaty by both Mordusia and Luthori, Luthori shall transfer a sum of 75,000,000,000 MRD to the Mordusian treasury, as payment for the purchase of New Mordusia |
