Bill: Enhanced Security and Justice Reform Bill 4213

Details

Submitted by[?]: Patriotic Party of Baltusia

Status[?]: defeated

Votes: This is an ordinary bill. It requires more yes votes than no votes. This bill will not pass any sooner than the deadline.

Voting deadline: November 4213

Description[?]:

Members of Congress,

It is our belief, in the light of the ongoing, subversive interference from Aldegar, that we should tighten up our justice and security system to better deal with and deter ongoing and future threats.

This includes:

*Equipping police with the tools they would need to help deal with a terrorist threat or attack.

*The ability to better "keep tabs" on the correspondence of suspected subversives who may be communicating their plans through the internet or other methods.

*Tightening up the law on foreign missionaries, to stop subversive preachers entering the nation and potentially "brainwashing" vulnerable people with anti-Hosian beliefs and creating extremists.

* Clamping down on subversive material appearing in newspapers, sponsored by foreign powers looking to de-stabilise the government.

* A limited capital punishment deterrent aimed at those who carry out heinous acts of treachery against Baltusia.

We believe these enhanced security proposals are commensurate to the threat we face right now.

MessageArticles 4 and 5 are simply unforgivable which is why we will not be voting on this bill. However, our party believes that the first three articles are just and simply will not vote yes or no to protect our voting record. If there is a bill encompassing those agreeable articles, our 29 members will vote yea.

MessageThank you for your feedback. I agree, Mr Wilson, that it is a gutsy bill. But what I would find unforgivable is if this nation is rocked by an act of aggression - whether that be a cyber attack or even a terror attack - which could have been averted if we had taken the necessary, albeit firm, action now.

This issue is escalating as we speak. Already a war of words has broken out between Aldegar and Istalia, who will not have their troops and ships pinned in the military and naval base they have in Athosia. Istalia has high grade weaponry and there are unconfirmed reports of nuclear weaponry in the Istalian arsenal.

All this means Aldegar does not have the capability to launch a full frontal attack on our soil so the chances are higher that they will resort to a more covert attack to wreak their revenge. I am Home Secretary and must safeguard against this domestic threat.

Random fact: In Culturally Protected nations, it is the responsibility of players to ensure the candidate boxes on their Party Overview screens are filled in with appropriate names. If a player is allotted seats in a Cabinet bill and has not filled in names for the relevant candidate position, then the program will automatically fill in the positions with names which might not necessarily be appropriate for the Cultural Protocols.
