Description[?]:
New Labour, New Mordusia propose to adjust the government's spending budget to better address the economic and social situation of the Federal Republic of Mordusia. This Budget delivers the increase in healthcare spending we have campaigned for and pledged to the Mordusian people at the last election. It will alleviate the funding squeeze hospitals have seen over the last 7 years. We have also increased the Science & Technology budget in order to boost funding for scientific research, to provide grants to tech start up companies and SMEs, as well as to attract high tech jobs to Mordusia. We have also provided much needed investment for our Police Force. Whilst this investment is vital for the continued prosperity of our nation, we need to show the public we can be financially responsible and display a responsible attitude to spending. In order to deliver these much needed spending increases to Health, Science and the Police we have not asked for 1 MRD more from the public & we have not, as the last government did, frittered away our surplus. To this end efficiency savings have been made in other governmental departments. As diplomatic relations with our neighbours are stable, we have reduced the Foreign Affairs and Defence budget to 4206 levels. These spending plans will increase our budget surplus to 39 billion MRD in order that future governments have the flexibility to invest as necessary during times of crisis. The current income tax levels set in 4188 by Fmr New Labour, New Mordusia Minister of Finance Aiden Coleman shall for now stay in place, however there is scope for tax reductions in the future. I commend this budget to Congress Owen Stewart, Minister of Finance |

Message | The cuts, especially to defence are way to high. However if another way was found to get the money we wouldn't be completely opposed. |
