Bill: Freedom of Religion Act of 4216

Details

Submitted by[?]: Democratic Party of Talmoria

Status[?]: defeated

Votes: This is an ordinary bill. It requires more yes votes than no votes. This bill will not pass any sooner than the deadline.

Voting deadline: February 4217

Description[?]:

Freedom of the people is based on the freedom of thought. The freedom of thought can only be ensured if there is freedom of religion. The freedom of religion is necessary for the following reasons
1: Any religious person will be persecuted under the current laws, creating a whole section of criminals (unnecessary). The only crime they may have conducted is free thought(may it be rational or irrational).
2: The Asli majority of the Republic of Talmoria are polytheistic or other religions( Ahmadism, especially Israism. ) The ban on religions must be fully enforced. For such a reason, all symbols of religion must be removed. Thus, we will have to remove all monuments which may have religious connotations. We will kill a great part of the tourism department if we destroy such monuments. We may have economic benefit by taxing religious organisations.
3: For a country to be truly secular we must keep religion out of the GOVERNMENT not the PEOPLE. The people's rights are being trampled on.
4:If such moral or economic reasons are not enough The Democratic Party of Talmoria presents proof as the comparison between the existing 58 nations of Terra. As it is clearly visible only two nations abolish religions.(The rest) The developed and developing countries all have freedom of religion (at some level). Does Talmoria really want to identify itself with regressive and enforced beliefs?
5:Not all religions need a belief in a creator. These religions contribute to mental well being of individuals and help people find "peace".(whether true or not)
6: We will only create extremism by provoking religions by curbing their right to belief. Talmoria is bringing more problems onto itself than it is solving. Thus, by granting the right to belief, we are at a political advantage.
7: Historical origins of the nation of Talmoria have root in religious belief. The country of "Talmoria" is named after the Ameliorate missionary Jacobus Talmor, who is considered to be the father of the nation. After Talmoria gained independence the new country needed a new name. Talmoria was chosen to honor Jacobus Talmor's role in establishing the Orange Colony which eventually evolved into the modern state.(source:Particracy wiki) Do we want to vilify the glorious history of our nation? Do we want to trample on the rights of the people for no economic, political or moral benefit?
8:We will persecute thinkers, artists, scientists, journalists and other highly educated people if they happen to have religious beliefs. We will damage such fields with no real reward.
9:Notice that no other changes are being made. (such as Changes about Religious schools or teacher-led prayer.)
The Democratic Party of Talmoria proposes that the freedom of religion should be a fundamental right. The freedom of our people lies in the freedom of belief. We, The Democratic Party of Talmoria, humbly request the ruling party and the opposition parties to quickly look into this matter and resolve this dispute. Our peoples' fate lies in our hands. We must make the right decision.
