Bill: Presidential Compromise
Details
Submitted by[?]: Hosian Civic Union
Status[?]: defeated
Votes: This is an ordinary bill. It requires more yes votes than no votes. This bill will not pass any sooner than the deadline.
Voting deadline: May 4226
Description[?]:
Dallas Rascon, the free-market liberal President, has proposed a compromise to appease liberals, progressives and conservatives. We hope to stop this issue pinging back and forth between two extremes after each election. 'Not tolerated' is perhaps too strong but basically anybody caught speaking about LGBT issues would be given a written warning and if it continues to a greater extent could face dishonourable discharge from the Armed Forces. Bullying in the military will be cracked down on. (OOC: This is actually how the law works in the UK and USA and most other civilised countries) Liberals/Progressives: This will mean they can still be in the military but that they will not be bullied or harrased by the other soldiers. Conservatives: This will mean that the military is strengthened but that LGBT issues are not brought up. In short this bill will unite both our nation and our armed forces. The President hopes that this issue will not have to be revisited again. |
Proposals

Old value:: Homosexuality is allowed in the military.
Current: Homosexuality is allowed in the military.
Proposed: Open homosexuality is not tolerated in the military. The military has a "don't ask, don't tell" policy.

Random fact: Any RP law granting extraordinary "emergency powers" or dictator-like powers to a government must be passed by at least a 2/3rds majority, but (like all RP laws) may always be overturned by a simple majority vote of the legislature. |
