Description[?]:
My colleagues, I wish to thank you for your input regarding the adoption of a Charter for Animal Protection. As previously stated, the BPP believe in the highest standards of animal welfare. Whilst continuing in our struggle to adopt a complete ban on the use of animal testing, we recognise that the will of the people is at present not in favour of such a motion - mainly for medical testing reasons. As such, we understand the need to reach such a position through flexible, sensible negotiation, and therefore see merit in adopting a new, regulated system of animal testing for medical research. We do still believe, however, the government need challenge companies using animals for testing drugs or other medical treatments on the necessity for this form of testing, as opposed to the use of alternative technology.
