Bill: Cabinet Proposal 4228
Details
Submitted by[?]: Socialist-Modernist Alliance
Status[?]: defeated
Votes: This bill presents the formation of a cabinet. It requires more than half of the legislature to vote yes. Traditionally, parties in the proposal vote yes, others (the opposition) vote no. This bill will pass as soon as the required yes votes are in and all parties in the proposal have voted yes, or will be defeated if unsufficient votes are reached on the deadline.
Voting deadline: November 4228
Description[?]:
Proposing a Cabinet that includes many the same cabinet seats as before, with the GNRG still controlling 3 and the LNC still controlling 4. This has increased fairness; 1) all the small parties get a seat within the cabinet so they can have a say; 2) the party with the most seats currently controls Presidential duties, which obviously makes sense. Currently it is unfair that the LNC has fewer seats than the NGPoL however still controls Presidential duties. |

Message | Mr. Speaker, we understand such a proposal being presented to the Presidium, but we still feel it is for the wrong reasons. Firstly, even the small parties have a saying within the Presidium even without controlling any Cabinet. This is called democracy. On the other hand, we see that such a proposal could make sense without being too supportive towards these measures. Secondly, while LNC isn't the largest party we indeed control the Presidential seat. Nowhere in the law it is said that the largest party should control this function. Again, the way our President is being chosen is by the Presidium. This means that the Presidium, elected by the people, should agree on an individual to become or remain President. This also is called democracy. We are willing to support this proposal, since we believe that, when challenged, all parties should have the right to accept another President. Again, we feel that we are supporting a bill made with the wrong reasons, but we are willing to give democracy a chance. Erika Walem Minister of Education and Culture chairman of LNC |

Message | Mr. Speaker, Having the most seats doesn't entitle a party to hold the presidency. The only thing that entitles anyone to presidency is support from at least 300 MPs. I don't see the NGPoL begging for the presidency. In any case, we do not support this proposal. -- Linton Jager, Chairman of the GNRG, Minister of Trade & Industry, Vice President of 2GDR Lodamun |

Message | Mr. Speaker, after reconsideration and after knowing that this bill has few support, we have decided to change our vote. We only supported this bill to allow other parties to push through a change. Since only the party handing in this proposal has decided to support the bill, we have decided not to follow.
