Details

Status[?]: passed
Votes: This is an ordinary bill. It requires more yes votes than no votes. This bill will not pass any sooner than the deadline.
Voting deadline: August 4229
Description[?]:
Members of Congress, The current laws surrounding euthanasia require a court order for the procedure to go ahead. This can be very traumatic and difficult for those involved and also takes time which they might not have if their health is deteriorating quickly. This bill would allow people to choose to end their own life if that is what they wish, however it is not completely uncontrolled because the doctor must also give consent. Message | Members of Congress, We believe this proposal puts too much pressure on the GPs who take an oath to try to save the lives of their patents. You also have to remember that many of these GPs will be family doctors who have probably known the patient all their lives - this emotional bond will make it difficult for them to be objective under these circumstances.
