Description[?]:
Members of Congress, once again we propose to you a Bill seeking equality for the citizens of Baltusia - no one citizen should have rights placed above another. Transgender people suffer from discrimination and harassment in every aspect of their daily lives. Whether in the social, political, economic or cultural spheres, they are denied equality of rights and opportunities. There is no logical or rational defence for such exclusion. Only ignorance and indifference enable such a denial of basic fundamental rights to continue. The BPP are only too well aware of what the results of being treated as second-class citizens can be. Our politics are the result of resistance to marginalisation and discrimination. Selfdetermination is our core demand, not only as a nation, but also as diverse communities within that nation. When confronted with experiences which are similar to our own (such as those of ethnic minorities, refugees, women etc) it should be automatic for us, as Democrats, to understand and actively express that understanding through solidarity. The denial of justice from one section of this nation is a denial of the rights of us all. So it is imperative that the government plays an active role in securing equality not only for the LGBT community, but also all those other sections of our society that have been denied the right to play a full and equal part in determining the course of this land, and that such rights should be enshrined in law. It is also important to remember that Transgender people are not a community set apart from the wider population. In every community, in every locality and in every political party, there are transgender people who are denied equality on the grounds of their gender identification. The government has a responsibility to ensure that within its own ranks and the wider community it represents, that second-class citizenship is not acceptable, and that the rights of Transgender people are not negotiable. At a time when the inequities of the society within which we live are so readily observable, we must rise to the challenge and confront all forms of exclusion, discrimination and marginalisation. It is time we moved on and made our position crystal clear - there is no room for discrimination on the grounds of gender orientation in our party, in our community nor in our country. Message | Mr Sherry, I would like to ask you why you choose to leave this issue up to local government, given that as you put it "...such rights should be enshrined in law." This could potentially allow local governments to discriminate and deny the rights of individuals to change their gender. Additionally I would like you to explain why you do not propose that the individuals can decide their gender identity without the influence of local government. Our parties appear to be on the same side of this issue so I hope you can swiftly clarify the points I have raised. Random fact: Moderation will not approve a Cultural Protocol request within the first 48 hours of it being requested. This is in order to give other players a chance to query the proposed changes, if they wish to do so.
