Bill: Nuclear Energy Bill 4230

Details

Submitted by[?]: Patriotic Party of Baltusia

Status[?]: passed

Votes: This is an ordinary bill. It requires more yes votes than no votes. This bill will not pass any sooner than the deadline.

Voting deadline: June 4231

Description[?]:

Members of Congress,

Whether or not this country decides to pursue a nuclear weapons policy, the fact of the matter is that our economy and infrastructure can be significantly boosted by the generation of a comprehensive nuclear energy policy.

Our research shows that clean nuclear energy is good for the environment and is the only credible power source to replace coal, oil and gas-powered stations, so should be encouraged.

As mentioned before we have several private energy companies which, if given the go ahead, would be willing to put in the investment to build a series of nuclear reactors in this country and begin to phase out their carbon-based generating infrastructure.

In addition, government regulations on pollution could be downgraded - as fewer and fewer old-style coal systems would exist, saving this country a significant amount on monitoring and overseeing regulation.

We would instead use some of the saved money to kick start an independent nuclear energy watchdog that would provide advise to the new firms and report to the government as and when necessary.

Thank you,

MessageMembers of Congress,

I agree that nuclear energy should be the short term solution to tackling global warming alongside renewable energy sources and absolutely support Article 1 as a way to increase our country's role in tackling climate change.

As you all know we in the SSPB (and the Left Bloc in general) support nationalization and I am doubtless that the Patriots will be not be surprised to know that we do not support a reversal of the compromised proposal the Left Bloc put forward in our 'Left Bloc Manifesto of choice (4220)'.

Regulation is essential for a capitalist system to work for everyone, if left to their own devices there is no reason for business to adhere to pollution guidelines given that they will not increase their profit. The idea implied in Article 3, that there is some purpose in having guidelines which are not legally binding is illogical and we might just as well do away with the guidelines all together.

We shall vote against this bill because it would increase damage to our climate and our world.

Random quote: "A strong body makes the mind strong. As to the species of exercises, I advise the gun. While this gives moderate exercise to the body, it gives boldness, enterprise and independence to the mind. Games played with the ball, and others of that nature, are too violent for the body and stamp no character on the mind. Let your gun therefore be your constant companion of your walks." - Thomas Jefferson
