MessageAlessandro Vallario, EL chairman

"Every single proposed article goes against our values. As part of the global community we should seek peace and promote laws that will prevent wars, conflicts and destruction. Also, we don't understand what has article 5 anything to do with the "greatness" of the military. If homosexuals want to support the nation by enrolling in the military, we should accept them as a whole human being, not just as a peace of meat to sacrifice on the front line. It is truly shameful and saddening to read such inhuman proposals. We won't support this bill and we ask our colleagues to follow our decision.

"Thank you for proposing a rather peculiar alternative to our bill regarding the field of defence, and therefore we are grateful for that."

MessageGiancarlo Dominici, Defense Spokesman of C.C.

"While the Confederazione is extremely dedicated to the advancement of our military and agrees with the bulk of this bill, we must oppose articles 4, 5, and 7, on the grounds of civil liberties.

On Article 4, we believe in the right to conscientiously object. On Article 5, we believe it only matters if one can shoot straight, not that they are straight. On Article 7, we believe that the military must not play a role in the enforcement of our laws internally - that is the role of the police forces."

"We join the collegues of CC and furthermore we cannot accept the existence of paramilitaries. Only the state shall have the right to use the force, not group of exaltated.
We think that you can go toward me and CC for a positive passage of this bill"

Sir Dominici, your choice of words was noteworthy! I can not remember I laughed so much in a parliament hearing. May we agree though to keep Article 4, as we believe that when you consciously object, you object to killing people, to even holding a weapon. But delivering messages? Healing the wounded? These noble tasks need their people, and in times of war, we cannot just let people go. Everyone has a role. They will never have to be violent, but treating patients, that I think is the minimum they could do to their compatriots. Article 5 and 7 I will remove to potentially pass separately, for visibility. Paramilitaries will go to the other bill as how else will we be legally be able to attempt a military coup d'etat?

For the record, the last sentence was a joke.

MessageOOC: I'm new to Istalia and I have a question... Is proposing bills here all about trying to make sure they have no chance of passing by making them so long? How on earth would another party agree with every single article of a bill which is 7 articles long? P.d.l. 04/4232 is 21 articles long!! I'm confused because I thought the whole point was to try to get legislation passed... Also, in other countries they encourage (as I have done) to make bills smaller so a compromise is more likely and they are more likely to pass.

MessageOOC: Then if that is the case it skew the positions of all the other parties, leading to ever more omnibus bills. I think they should be split - it makes them more likely to find agreement and have less of an impact on other parties.
