Message | Members of Congress, Please be aware that in some aspects of this we have not gone as extreme as we would ideally want however this is merely a start to transition to a better Baltusia. Jenessa Hawkins Leader of the Secularist, Socialist Party of Baltusia |
Date | 21:46:11, July 08, 2017 CET | From | Baltusian Democratic Green Party (BDGP) | To | Debating the Left Wing Baltusia Bill |
Message | Members of Congress, If there is one thing that really stands out in this bill it is the disgustingly dramatic rise in corporation tax. Baltusia is running a $2.5 billion surplus; we have frankly no need for this enormous rise in tax. To be concerned about the antics of big business is understandable, and is needed in any healthy society. However, that issue can be almost entirely resolved through regulation and negotiations, so this plan won't be effective in practice. Rather, those hardest hit by this will be the small business owners - people who are just simple citizens, not multi-billionaires. Baltusia's economy is underpinned by these so-called 'corporations', and this action will undoubtedly cause many of these to close, meaning a recession could be a likely possibility (OOC: RP?). The Left Bloc government has appeared to start this term by choosing to harm the average Joe, so I implore all parties in government to re-think this decision. BDGP Chairwoman Miriam Heston |

Message | OOC: Do not accept recession RP as corporate tax has been higher in past and all was fine |

Random fact: In Culturally Protected nations, special care must be taken to ensure realism is maintained when role-playing a government controlled by an ethnic and/or religious minority. If it is to be supposed that this government is supported by a majority of the population, then this should be plausibly and sufficiently role-played. The burden of proof is on the player or players role-playing such a regime to demonstrate that it is being done realistically |
