President Bouvier Delivers Adress:

Fellow Kanjorians,

I would today like to clearify the implications of the treaty exit, that will take place in August this year. There has been a lot of criticism to the foreign minister's likewise the Senates decision to our stance on the 'Rights of LGBT Citizens' and 'The Comprehensive Gay Rights Treaty'. There has been criticism which is nuanced and although the government disagrees with the position itself, it is a justifiable and fair position. There also has been a number of myths running around in media and not the least being underblown by various far left groups.

The facts are the following: we're exiting a treaty that limits the ability of our legislators to legislate. There are currently no government proposals or plan of government proposals, stating something else. We are not inherently against all the individual legislations that the treaty binds us to, what the foreign minister simply wants to do is to allow for us and future administrations to have control of our own nation's law. That is the definition of self-determination for the people of Kanjor. Folks are entiteled to be against this concept, but I am calling for a nuanced debate rather than myths being spread in the media. Future circumstances change, and we might not know what the future will give us, so therefore it is by principle a positive thing to have a Kanjor with an able democracy.

I want to take the opportunity to respond to the statement made by Monsieur Monet, of the Grand Parti Libertaire de Kanjor. He is entiteled to be against our decisions, but to go out in public and make a statement expressing understanding for people taking it too far - vandalizing public and private property, assaulting and injuring 17 police officers and stealing between 30 and 40 million KRP:s from Soulon taxpayers depending on how you count - that is mildly expressed irresponsible. As elected officials and representatives of a democratic, civilized system, we have a great deal of responsibility. To express support for extremist actions done in the name of "anger" and "frustration", as Monet puts it, is not an example of a democratic mindset, not an example of being role-models as public servants and frankly not an example of a justifiable position - or even a libertarian position for that matter. Far left groups who saw their opportunity to vandalize private property literally are not in any way a model for how demonstrations should be conducted.

For more information about the treaties and about the government's position on such issues, visit www.mansionpopulaire.gov . I thank everybody for taking time from their busy days and listening to this information. I hope all citizens of our great country have a wonderful day, and may God bless Kanjor! Thank you.

MessageHonourable M. President,

You are right when you say we have a great deal of responsibility. A responsibility to stand by our citizens whether they are heterosexual or homosexual or whether they identify as a man or a woman. That responsibility is given to us all in politics, and I call upon our President to take his fair share and to treat all with respect.

As my Honourable Friend, M. Moineau stated within the Senate, the parliamentary and legislative ramifications of withdrawing from this treaty are completely reasonable, and even logical. It does give us further sovereignty, and in truth it does not change anything when discussing law. But the people of Kanjor do not see this. The people of Terra do not see this. They do not care that this has no effect. They see an oppressive, fascist government restricting human rights.

Is that the image we want Kanjor to have? No, of course not. But in all honesty M. President, that is the image that your party is creating. You know what? These people are angry and frustrated. They are angry that their country is being embarrassed, and they are frustrated that it is their government who is at fault for this. You know M. President. You are right. Your bill makes sense. But an important piece of advice. Perception is more important than truth. That is what we are dealing with here, and that is what I, along with Kanjor wants rectified. I want the world's perception of us to remain positive, and for Kanjor not to end up being that lonely fascist State at the bottom of Seleya.

Finally, I would like to point out how the President always ends his speeches with God Bless Kanjor! I figure that I should do something of the same ilk. However, I want to recognise the people, the citizens of this country, that make Kanjor what it is. We should be praising Kanjoriens, not Kanjor itself. So therefore, I say this: May God Bless All the Citizens of Kanjor!
