Message | Reasons to vote against this treaty 1. Written by RSDP ;) 2. "2. There shall be no discrimination on the grounds of race, colour, sex, language, religion, political or other opinion, national or social origin, property, birth or other status." or other status. thus we cannot discriminate against psychotic murderers by putting them in secure cells, solitary confinement etc "5. Except for those limitations that are demonstrably necessitated by the fact of incarceration, all prisoners shall retain the human rights and fundamental freedoms set out in the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, and, where the State concerned is a party, such other rights as are set out in other covenants." a) we have not signed up to the UDHR b) that document is a pile of crap "7. Efforts addressed to the abolition of solitary confinement as a punishment, or to the restriction of its use, should be undertaken and encouraged." So psychotic murderers who like to kill their cellmates and injure them cannot be put in solitary confinement? "9. Prisoners shall have access to the health services available in the country without discrimination on the grounds of their legal situation." They are locked up... in you know.. this thing called... PRISON! |

Message | "1. All prisoners shall be treated with the respect due to their inherent dignity and value as human beings." Uh, walking the streets is part of inherent human dignity. Prisoners clearly aren't treated like law-abiding citizens for very good reasons. |

Message | Why do you need to take everything out of context? If you real the whole treaty you'll find that it covers all concerns adequately and that there are no loopholes in it. |

Message | It contradicts itself, not a good quality in a treaty |
