Message | Madame Presidente, I rise today to support this bill with reservations. As the vote has been called, I understand that changes cannot be made. I applaud the government's desire to move power from the national government to the cantons and four of the five proposals above would be one's our party would propose if we were in your positions. Our only reservation is the first article. Animals do not know the borders of cantons and their protection is a national responsibility. Is this article a poison pill for our party? No. We believe, even with the policy devolved to the cantons, local governments will see the responsibility we have to those with whom we share the planet. We would simply state that there are areas in which we do believe the national government has responsibility, and this is one. Respectfully, Anne-Marie Gadot, CR Leader |

Message | Anne-Marie Gadot, Yes we do see that Article 1 can be removed and further debated from this bill. I can assure you that when and if this bill passed, we shall look back at the article and change it. Thank you. Random fact: Parties have the ability to endorse another party's candidate for the Head of State election (if there is one). This adds a strategic element to the elections. |
