Message | That sounds somehow good especially the article that refers to the appointment of officers |
Date | 02:26:38, July 27, 2017 CET | From | Libertarian Party | To | Debating the Defense Act of 4247 |
Message | This restricts our military strength and ability, dangerously combines the police and military, undermines the Ministry of Defense's chain of command, and allows arms to be sold to enemies. The only good article in here is the one about the military's make up. Voluntary enlistment should be the only way into the military, not conscription, so I agree with you there. |

Message | We should draft a white paper for a military which will repel any invasion force before it even hits our beaches. Other than that, we have no need for enemies. I don't believe my esteemed fellow senators from the Liberty Party understand what is being proposed here; a volunteer army based on population enrollments means that our military will only be raised in times of war, with lists of members to be kept in peacetime. OOC: Yes, it took me a while to figure out what it meant too. |

Message | Oh my apologies, I always wondered what the difference was between the professional and volunteer. But regardless, what about training and outfitting soldiers when a war comes up? It would be easier to have a standing army full time, so we can have larger numbers immediately after a conflict begins, rather than waiting to train soldiers. I misspoke, I don't want arms going to authoritarian regimes, which aren't necessarily our enemies, but aren't countries we should be allowing arms sales to. Thanks for the clarification, and remember I am open to the possibility of changing my position. |
