Bill: Democracy Act III

Details

Submitted by[?]: Nationalist Party of Likatonia

Status[?]: passed

Votes: This bill asks for an amendement to the Constitution. It will require two-thirds of the legislature to vote in favor. This bill will not pass any sooner than the deadline.

Voting deadline: March 4254

Description[?]:

We move that the number of seats be increased to 425. This is a decrease in the number of seats the Democracy Act II(Census Act) sought to add. We would not have proposed this, again, so soon, but some parties abstained from voting, and one of those parties no longer holds seats in Likatonia.

This bill is meant to be in compliance with the RCA's request in previous debates.
This bill is, also, meant to be in compliance with the Conservative Parties issue that the proposed number of seats was too much of an increase.

This bill will remain in the debate phase until all seats in the legislature are filled.

Chairman of the PSPL
Minister of Health, and Social Services

Message427 is not divisible by 5, so even though our five states have pretty similar population, the number of seats per state will not be equal for each state. Therefore, this change would actually decrease the proportionality and fairness of the electoral system.

MessageIt will strengthen our democracy, by having each congressmen representing less people, thus our citizens will be more accurately represented. They will also be able to hold congress more accountable for their actions.
If passed each congressman would represent ~300,000 voters, as opposed to our current number where each congressman represents ~400,000. We implore the SLP to support this bill aimed at increasing fairness, and democracy in congress.
OOC) I believe the actual US House of Representatives has about 425.
