| The current regulation of trade union activities severely limits their capacity to safeguard their members interests. This results in the employers having a disproportionately strong position vis a vis the workers. This distorts the negotiations between the workers and employers as well as the market mechanism. The result is a suboptimal allocation of resources in the national economy. To allow the workers to adequately defend their rights and thus gain a balanced structure for negotiations between the employers (whose rights to defend their rights are not currently limited) and workers the artificial restrictions to desicion making and striking by trade unions must be loosened. As Trade Union membership is voluntary it is hardly appropriate to define by law what kind of rules a union should have while making its decisions. We do not pose any such limitations to the functions of any other citizens' free associations. To do so to unions can only be seen as inappropriate attempt to limit Trade Union activities and citizens' rights to free association. Desicion about going on strike is one that should be made by members of a union in any means they see fit. As holding a ballot severely limits the efficacity with which strike action can be taken, many unions and their members often see ballots as too cumbersome. They have every right to consider so and act accordingly. It is a matter of a unions internal decision making and the rules governing it. It is hardly a place for the government to meddle. |

Old value:: Only closely related trade unions can walk out on a sympathy strike in support of other striking workers.
Current: Secondary strike action is illegal. Workers and unions can only go on strike for their own pay and conditions.
Proposed: Any trade union can go on a sympathy strike in support of other striking workers.
Article 2
Proposal[?] to change Trade union strike ballots.
Old value:: Trade unions must by law hold a ballot of all members before going on strike, majority approval of those that vote is needed from its members.
Current: Trade unions must by law hold a ballot of all members before going on strike, a majority of all members, regardless of if they vote or not must approve the strike action.
Proposed: Trade unions are not required by law to hold a ballot before striking.
