Bill: Ban of Land Mines Act
Details
Submitted by[?]: Republican Green Party
Status[?]: defeated
Votes: This is an ordinary bill. It requires more yes votes than no votes. This bill will not pass any sooner than the deadline.
Voting deadline: January 4266
Description[?]:
This bill, once passed into law, will prohibit the use of land mines by our armed forces. Land mines are a functionally obsolete weapon in an era where the vast majority of militaries have armoured mobile transports as their primary method of moving troops about, furthermore their deployment is dangerous to our own soldiers, time consuming to conduct and due to the sheer number of mines needed to form a decent minefield, expensive to lay down. Modern equipment such as long range artillery guns, remote observation aircraft and even advanced night vision systems make the detection and engagement of hostile forces in an offensive action far easier than can be otherwise done with landmines. Once deployed, land mines do not disappear. They remain hidden underground for decades or even centuries, ready to kill or maim whatever unfortunate person steps on them. |
