Bill: Bennett Penal Reform Act
Details
Submitted by[?]: Whig Party
Status[?]: defeated
Votes: This is an ordinary bill. It requires more yes votes than no votes. This bill will not pass any sooner than the deadline.
Voting deadline: August 4267
Description[?]:
Our laws and policies regarding criminals should serve as a deterrent against crime itself, and they must be taken seriously in order to do so. By allowing criminals in jail to vote we are showing the people that even the government doesn't take the laws seriously. If we as a society deem that someone isnt fit to even be a part of society and should be locked a way in a jail why then are we allowing this individual to vote while in jail? Voting rights should be suspended while criminals are locked away, prisoners shouldn't get a say in governing policy, Secondly prison shouldn't be a hotel where you have freedom within its walls, you shouldn't be earning an income since you are there to pay off a debt to the state. Prison is a place of punishment, by adopting these policies and strengthening our deterrents I believe we can bring crime to an all time low. ----President Frank Bennett ------- |

Message | Mr. Speaker, I would like to address the heinous allegations made by former President Holloway. The GCU does not support slavery and has not advocated for it, to say such is painting a false picture the I believe the former President knows so. Is arresting these criminals and keeping them locked away in chains for years at a time, sometimes entire lifetimes not slavery by those same standards? This bill will merely occupy the criminals time they spend paying their debt to the state instead of the state keeping them detained and paying them when they decide they desire work. Message | Mr Speaker, Our party supports articles 1 and 2, but article 3 is a pure representation of work camps that are unjust. |
