MessageWe support this bill but we would like to see it go further. We would like to completely overhaul the education system. We think it is not fit for purpose. To help increase education levels in this country, we would like to introduce a number of measures. This would include the privatisation of the education system, allowing local governments to develop higher education institutions, reduce the compulsory education age to 16, subsidise tuition fees, and make the national curriculum advisory-only. We will vote in favour of this bill, but we will be proposing further measures ourselves in the future. When we will do this depends on how long the current situation of political gridlock in the senate continues.

MessageWhilst we disagree with the concept of State Education, we must keep education policy centralised. Yes national curriculum should be advisory only, but we need to make sure all schools are private, and that is the responsibility of the national government .
