Bill: Cabinet Proposal of April 4273 and Political Reform

Details

Submitted by[?]: Liberty and Republic

Status[?]: defeated

Votes: This bill asks for an amendement to the Constitution. It will require two-thirds of the legislature to vote in favor. This bill will not pass any sooner than the deadline.

Voting deadline: March 4274

Description[?]:

A proposal for a new cabinet, and for the designation by the President of the new governors, mayors, and regional parliaments of the country, due to the lack of an approved law to regulate their election.

Article 20 - For as long as the current parliament's term, the following will be the local offices in Mordusia:

1) The governor of each state will be from the party who won the election in it. If coalitions exists at the national or regional level among political parties, their results will be added as if they were a single party, and the coalitions can designate a governor from any of the member-parties.

2) For the mayors of each city, the results of the national election in each region will be used. As many mayors as there are cities in each state will be elected according to the D'hondt method. Each mayor will be assigned to a city: the largest electoral majorities will lead the largest cities by population. Coalitions can be created with the same rules as in the numeral 1) of this article.

3) For regional parliaments, there will be 50 seats for each state. The seats will be distributed according to the D'hondt method. No coalitions are allowed.

MessageState Governors were instituted many, many years ago but they slowly fell apart. We look forward to seeing them instituted once again.

Random fact: In order for a Cabinet bill to pass, more than half of the legislature must vote for it and all of the parties included in the proposed Cabinet must support it. If your nation has a Head of State who is also the Head of Government, then the party controlling this character must also vote for the bill, since the Head of Government is also a member of the Cabinet. If any of these requirements are not met, the bill will not pass.
