Bill: Election Terms (Read the description)

Details

Submitted by[?]: Liberal Alliance

Status[?]: defeated

Votes: This bill asks for an amendement to the Constitution. It will require two-thirds of the legislature to vote in favor. This bill will not pass any sooner than the deadline.

Voting deadline: November 4280

Description[?]:

Let's be real, it would be a lot easier to remember when there's an election if it was every 5 years. Then you only need to remember that elections are held every year that ends on a 2 or a 7 for example. In real life this would also be easier to remember because elections would take place every 10 days, for example the 11th, 21st and 31st of a month, instead of every 8 days for example the 11th, 19th, 27th of a month.

MessageThe benefits of having every 5 years still outnumber the drawbacks imo.

MessageIt was under the ULP that the length was changed from 72 months to 48. We believe then and still do now that it's in the best interest of democracy that the length on time be shortened to give everyone a good chance to govern and to compete instead of waiting a long time that players may then be bored and leave the game.
Thus, keeping it at 48 months or 4 in game years is best. Mr Speaker, I'm quite amazed though that such advocacy for this change or proposal is coming from a relatively new party that's also in Opposition. Normally, we find these sort of proposals coming from parties or party in government so that their time can be extended after next election .

MessageMr Speaker. We in the Freedom Party believe it's ridiculous to NOT put forward legislation when we believe it's necessary to do so.
This futhermore shows that parties like the Unity Labour Party thinks it's more important to wait for "the right circumstances" to put forward legislation that can be done at an earlier date.

MessageMr Speaker I think the honourable member is misunderstanding and misrepresting what I said. I didn't imp!y that I don't think this bill should be placed forward for a voting, all we're saying is that we will not support this bill because we believe it's not in the best interest of democracy and for players.

MessageMr Speaker. You literally criticised us for putting forward such legislation because we didn't match your criterias. Our only mission is to put forward legislation we believe is necessary WHEN it's necessary. To say it isn't necessary right now is to attack democracy.
Futhermore, we did NOT criticise you for criticising what our bill says, that is undemocratic to do, we criticised you for criticising our right to put forward legislation when we believe it's necessary. Understand?

MessageAlthough we see your point and is totally reasonable we think that the current legislation is OK and Malivian people wouldn't like that change.

MessageiI'll like the honourable member to quote me where I said the bill isn't necessary? What we are simply saying is that we oppose the bill because we don't think it will serve the best interest of both citizens and political parties

MessageMr Speaker clearly we have a bunch of buffoons coming from every angle, talking about the length of elections. I would say to the ULP that 5 years is a good way of getting a government to use its power to get something Into law. Second, of all I would ask the Liberal Alliance to stop gay parading and act like an opposition. Clearly these parties are acting like cat and mouse and we should stop the fight and vote Malivia First, thank you very much. HEIL FASCISM!!!!

Random fact: Cultural Protocol bills must provide a real-life equivalent or short description for the ethnic groups, languages and religions contained in them, such that it would be easy for an unfamiliar player to understand (e.g. "Dundorfian = German"). Where appropriate, they should also provide guidance to players on where to find help with translations and character names. This might include, for example, links to Google Translate, Behind the Name's Random Name Generator and Fantasy Name Generators.
