Bill: Cabinet meeting on Tax reform

Details

Submitted by[?]: Unity Labour Party

Status[?]: defeated

Votes: This bill proposes to change income taxes. It requires more than half of the legislature to vote yes. This bill will not pass any sooner than the deadline.

Voting deadline: March 4279

Description[?]:

Recently, Malivia's economy has grown from 649 bill- 651 billion with a surplus of 5 billion dollars. It is my belief as Head of Government that we should encourage a tax system where it encourages consumers to spend and invest in order for the economy to grow. Thus, we are proposing a progressive tax for wages while slightly increasing VAT (essential goods) and decrease tax on luxury goods.

In looking at wages, we believe that persons making below 800 dollars should not be taxed and that this also shows an indicator of 800 dollars being minimum wage for Malivias.

Thus, the wages that are taxed are subject to change after we have our discussion. However, I am proposing these changes in the other taxes on goods and businesses.

I hereby invite comments on the agenda for this meeting.

MessageWe in the Freedom Party like a tax decrease, so we support article 1 and 3, but we still won't vote yes on this bill due to article 2. Remove article 2 and you have our support.

OOC ULP shouldn't you remove the 250, 500 and 750 brackets from taxation for the tax system to be compliable?

MessageSorry, we can't let you pass this. Indirect taxes as the VAT or non luxury goods tax are unfair. This is a tax reform for the rich people.

MessageI hereby adjourn this meeting and made a final decision.I believe that out of the 13 members in cabinet, only 4 opposed the proposal specifically pertaining to essential (VAT) and luxury tax. Thus, we will move ahead with the proposal.

I am simply putting this bill in voting procedure simply to have it archived but not to pass anything so vote no.
