MessageHerr Huspresident
Herr Parlamentsmedlem for the Patriotic Party.

This nation's police force has operated at a high capacity of internal security with officers who do not carry firearms. This is due to the presence of special division within the National Police Service which handles serious firearms related cases. Apart from this, our nation's hard line stance on firearms control coupled with the government's moves to clamp down on organised crime, illegal firearms use and storage and other criminal related activities has created an environment which is more friendly for proactive policing.

Regular police officers of the National Police Service (until the current legislation was implemented) did not carry firearms due two reason: (1) public relations and (2) safety. It's safety reason is rooted out of the fact that the presence of firearms create intense situations and engenders increased violence than it should be preventing. It's public relations reason is rooted out of a policy taken up by the service years ago in which it wanted to bring back the era of policing by respect rather than policing by the gun. We believe that a back pedal of the current legislation would be beneficial to the nation as it has been in the past.
