Bill: Constitutional Reform - Legislative term length

Details

Submitted by[?]: Partido Nacional

Status[?]: defeated

Votes: This bill asks for an amendement to the Constitution. It will require two-thirds of the legislature to vote in favor. This bill will not pass any sooner than the deadline.

Voting deadline: October 4286

Description[?]:

We propose reducing the length of legislative terms from 36 to 30 months (6 days to 5 days). Due to the recent disbandment of a number of parties a shorter term length potentially reduces the need for early elections.

MessageOOC: Sorry for the delay.
I don't quite see how this is going to reduce the need for early elections. There are usually two categories of parties that fall inactive:
- those who simply don't log on anymore and are deactivated after a few days. They usually don't term their inactivity according to the electoral terms, and the four days after which they are inactivated quite frequently happen to be just after and election.
- and there are those who are dissatisfied with their electoral results and deactivate themselves, which most often happens right after an election.

Either way, early election seem to be just as likely with a 30 month term as with 36.

Random quote: "Colonialism or imperialism, as the slave system of the West is called, is not something that is just confined to England or France or the United States. The interests in this country are in cahoots with the interests in France and the interests in Britain. It's one huge complex or combine, and it creates what's known not as the American power structure or the French power structure, but an international power structure. This international power structure is used to suppress the masses of dark-skinned people all over the world and exploit them of their natural resources." Malcolm X
