BACKGROUND INFO

Likatonia began as a colony of the Holy Luthori Empire. The Luthori people who colonized Likatonia and made it the country it is today were the Pilgrims (also known as the Luthori-Separatists). Many left Luthori because of religious persecution. Most left seeking new land on which they would be free from the oppressive and restrictive Luthorians, though some left attempting to make a living off the the resources of the unindustrialized Seleya. The colonizers traveled to Likatonia by boat. They were not the first inhabitants of Likatonia however.

The Native-Likatonians are a race which are present all over the country. It is speculated that the Native Tribes of Likatonia originated from Mashacara tribes from Hutori. Due to similarities in culture, it is believed that they would have travelled south across the seas from the Macon continent, down to what is now known as Likatonia. Most Native-Likatonians tribes' are most similar to the real-life Cherokee, but just as in real-life, there is variation. The Native-Likatonians are now more common in the east of Likatonia, though still present in the west. The natives were slaughtered in the west and were all forced to move to the east, where they are still battled against and being slaughtered to this day. Currently, the west of Likatonia is much more populated and civil than the east. Much of the east remains untouched by the Luthori Settlers and is still fought over between them and the Natives. Thus, the Eastern regions of Likatonia are considered to be more 'uncivilized'. The settlers brought Talmorian slaves to their new land, which would mostly work on farms to bring the settlers income. These slaves are discriminated against because of their skin color.

For many years Likatonia was a colony of the Holy Luthori Empire by who they were heavily taxed, while not being represented in the Luthori Parliament. After the Likatonian Revolution, in which Likatonia fought against Luthori, they gained independence as a sovereign state though not being immediately recognized by other nations as one. Likatonia was assisted and allied with Egelion and several Canrillaise nations in this battles, which would start a friendship between the nations. Likatonia gained independence on the 4th of February 4026. Thus, Likatonia celebrates it's independence from Luthori every year on the 4th of February. This conflict is known as the Likatonian Revolution, which freed Likatonia from control of the Holy Luthori Empire. Though a majority of the Likatonian population is of Luthori origin, their main reasons for choosing to migrate from Luthori to the Likatonian colonies were the oppressive legislations enforced by the Luthori government.

A 'Gold Rush' occurred in Likatonia when gold was first discovered in East Bolton, which sparked even more migration to the more uncivilized or 'wild' East of Likatonia. Mining/drilling and farming are a big part of Likatonia;s culture. It all fits into the Likatonian belief that any man in Likatonia can make himself rich if he works hard enough. Likatonia is often called the 'Land of Opportunity'. Thus, the economic growth and development of an individual is a common desire in Likatonia.

MessageOOC: This is a reform proposal that must be debated and voted, and if passed and aproved by Moderation, will be established as the new Cultural Protocols of Likatonia

In order to have a realistic deadline for this reform, I propose that we debate and fix what we think that could be improved in order to have started a vote by December 4286.

If anyone has any concern about some part of this protocols, either an old part or a changed one, may suggest a change so that we can debate it.

ToDebating the OOC: Reform of the Cultural Protocols of Likatonia
MessageOOC: Instead of declaring Likatonia an open culture nation, what is proposed here is to change the parts of the cultural protocols that we want to change (i.e. the underdeveloped 19th century part) while keeping a culturally protected nation.

If anybody finds some vocabulary or grammar mistake, feel free to tell me and I'll correct it. My native language is not English and this document should be well written.

MessageOOC: I can accept this instead of the open culture, perhaps when we are more developed and placed into a better position we could try again for the open culture, i only have two concerns, to my understanding we need the open culture in order for us to change this and the union and confederate may be too similar to the real life reflection it represents; Does anyone know happened at the end of the civil war or if there were any parties back than that we could use as the focal point to history? the furthest back i could go was 2037.

MessageOOC: We can remove the civil war part, it was suggested by the Confederate Party -who was active at that time- at the latest attempt to reform the protocols, but it never reached voting.

MessageOOC: there wouldn't be any big things that have changed the course of the nation that you are aware by any chance? i think things like that would be great to add t the backstory.

MessageOOC: I don't think so, our recent history has not been that interesting xD in fact we could actually remove the whole background info if we are all more comfortable without it, I wouldn't mind. Other parties: please, say if you prefer a Protocol change or an Open Culture, and in the first case, whether you are okay with this proposal or not. I think we need broad consensus on this one.

MessageOOC: Well that rather sucks XP i don't think we should remove the background entirely, it's there so that new people will come in knowing what to expect and get straight into the rp, although adding other nations into it without their permission may not be a good thing either.
