Message | We will support the UB in this proposition. The place of Government is to provide the people with Public Service Broadcasting which provide educational and information programmes which would be unavailable through the free market and required viewing figures. However, it is not the Governments place to stop the free broadcast of materials which may or may not be detrimental to the Governments political position, unless it can be deemed as detrimental to Public Security. We would like to see a public "watchdog" system emplaced on private channels to maintain standards, however Government should never be involved in dictating policy and possibly limiting freedom of information. The current law has the feel of totalitarianism about it, and we call on all parties to remove this dictatorial legislation from our "books". |

Message | Be it the opinion of the parties in the gouvernement, or the opinion of big buisseness that owns private media, not once will come the voice in the interest of the common man. On the other hand, nationalised industries generally gives beter wages and workings conditions and often too better services for lower rprices. |

Message | So...your reasoning for not allowing competition and freedom of expression is because wages would be low? We have a minimum wage law. We have basic rights at work. Your argument doesn't add up. Are you saying it is fair for Government to tell people what they should be thinking? Also, with private media working alongside Government media, does it not allow for the "common man" to produce shows on public radio stations? I don't believe we have any laws against this, though if you are able to point these out to us we would be most interested. |

Message | ^^^ Good stuff there ^^^ Add: We also have trade unions - workers can use those to get better wages if they feel they are bing under paid. |

Message | We support this bill fully. While we support the nationalization of industry, having state-controlled media is very dangerous. |

Message | To me the media is like industry... |

Message | We support this bill, as state-controlled mediums can make the people feel that their desires aren't being fulfilled (it isn't a free press) |

Random fact: In Culturally Protected nations, it is the responsibility of players to ensure the candidate boxes on their Party Overview screens are filled in with appropriate names. If a player is allotted seats in a Cabinet bill and has not filled in names for the relevant candidate position, then the program will automatically fill in the positions with names which might not necessarily be appropriate for the Cultural Protocols. |
