Message | We take issue with Article 3. Nuclear power, despite its risks, is a necessary evil that we must stomach. It remains the most efficient method of clean power generation and the most viable alternative to coal and natural gas power plants. Without nuclear power, we would be forced to go back to coal and natural gas simply because we don't yet have the technology to produce the sheer volume of power produced by nuclear power plants solely through alternative means. We hope that our colleagues in the Austonean Socialist party take this into account and amend the bill to affirm, rather than deny us the right to build nuclear power plants, even as a stopgap measure until better methods of power production are introduced. Until they take this step, we are forced to oppose this bill, despite its obvious benefits otherwise. |
