Bill: Advertising Regulation Bill 4293
Details
Submitted by[?]: Secularist, Socialist Party of Baltusia
Status[?]: passed
Votes: This is an ordinary bill. It requires more yes votes than no votes. This bill will not pass any sooner than the deadline.
Voting deadline: July 4294
Description[?]:
Members of Congress, It is not right that there are no regulations on adverts. Studies have shown that the majority of children do not realise that adverts are designed to sell things and view them as entertainment, as a result there should be basic standards of advertising targeted at children. In addition, political adverts containing outright lies should not be allowed because an informed voting public is crucial to a functioning democracy. To be clear, this would not be a stamp down on freedom of speech, the necessary standards to reach would be low and would vary depending on to whom the advert is targeted. For example, just because there should not be pornography in an advert aimed at children does not mean that any sort of sexually explicit image could not be used in adverts targeting adults.
