Bill: Mental Health Act 2190
Details
Status[?]: defeated
Votes: This bill is a resolution. It requires more yes votes than no votes. This bill will not pass any sooner than the deadline.
Voting deadline: November 2191
Description[?]:
We must put an end to ineffective counselling programs, the pill-popping, drug pushing abuses and the fraudulent junkscience of psychiatry. We propose a total outright ban on the practice of psychiatry. All mental health services will be open to alternative treatments without monopoly. Pharmaceutical companies will be forbidden to make mind-altering psych drugs and will concentrate solely on appropriate medicines. Psychiatric organisations, clinics, and front-groups will be shut down. Let's take mental health into the 23rd century! Let there be no monopoly on mental healing. People should be free to shop around and find something that works for them, without fear of labelling, drugging or prosecution if damaging treatment is refused. Ban Psychiatry now! For more evidence of psychiatric BS, I refer my honourable friends to http://80.237.164.51/particracy/main/vieworganization.php?organizationid=429 |

Message | Although we respect your thoughts on psychiatry, it is a usually helpful practice that, with the appropriate safeguards, improves the lives of others. I have personally seen several people who are entirely new people as a result of psychotherapy, and they have gone on to jump hurdles and establish a life for themselves. To ban psychiatry would deny patients such as those that I know that same right to live. |

Message | Psychotherapy is not Psychiatry, per se. It would fall under Psychology, which we do not oppose. Psychology admits it's pseudoscientific nature. Psychiatry does not, instead claiming medical basis for it's fraudulent claims. We must put an end to the abuse and harm this barbaric practice causes! |
